Brookreson, Brewer 2007 Champions

David Brookreson, from the host club Huntingdon Valley Country Club, fired a final round of 2 under par 68 to win the William Hyndman III Memorial Senior Amateur.  His rounds were 77,71,68 for a total of 216, 6 over par.  Pete Allen from Rochester Hills, MI, second round leader with a score of 143(3 over par) finished second after shooting a 77 on the final round.  Tom Bartolacci, from Saucon Valley CC, Bethlehem, PA finished third.

O. Gordon Brewer from Pine Valley, NJ won the Super Senior Division with a 3 day total of 216 (6 over par), beating Charles McClaskey (Elkton, MD) in a sudden death play off.  Gordon's par on the first extra hole was the deciding factor.  Gordon, last year's champion, played consistently ever day shooting 74,71,71.  Special acknowledgements to runner up Charles McClaskey's first round of 4 under par 66.  This is a new tournament record.

Brookreson and Brewer both said it was an honor to win a tournament associated with "Big Bill Hyndman".  "He gave back so much to golf and always was  talking about how great of a course Huntingdon Valley was", said Brookreson.  "His record in amateur golf speaks for itself and he was the ultimate gentleman", Brewer exclaimed.

This was the first year that the tournament had a Super Senior Division.  Brewer now has won both the Senior Division and Super Senior Division.  The tournament is an outshoot of the Lynnewood Hall Challenge Trophy, the nation's second oldest continuing tournament having started in 1901.  Hosted also by Huntingdon Valley it has always been a mid am type tournament with a few contestants under the age of 26.  Gordon won that tournament as well as the senior division of that tournament before the Hyndman Memorial started.  With the number of quality senior golfers out there the committee did not want to dilute the Lynnewood Hall mid am field so it was decided to start a separate senior tournament and who better to honor than Billy Hyndman.
