Therapeutic Riding Program for Individuals with Disabilities.

Welcome to Special Equestrians! We are a non-profit therapeutic riding program for children and adults with physical, mental and emotional disabilities who live in Bucks, Montgomery, Philadelphia, and surrounding counties.

We hope you will enjoy navigating through our website—whether you are interested in participating in our program as a rider or volunteer, want to learn more about therapeutic riding or wish to join Special Equestrians as a supporter.  Please feel free to call us or email us at any time and thank you for your interest in Special Equestrians.

Therapeutic Riding to Better Health

Individuals with almost any cognitive, physical or emotional disability can benefit from therapeutic riding. When riding a horse, the human body moves the same way as if the  rider was walking. This natural, repetitive motion cannot be duplicated by gym equipment or therapy tools as precisely as when riding a horse.  For some individuals, this is the first time normal movement is experienced.

Using the horse’s three dimensional movement as a therapeutic tool, the rider achieves physical, mental and emotional progress.

Special  Equestrians is currently accepting children and adults diagnosed with:

  • Autism

  • Cerebral Palsy

  • ADD/ADHD

  • Down Syndrome

  • And more

Riding for Hope…One Rider at a Time
