Call it "Artistic Development"
My artistic career cycled from the traditional rendering of still life, landscape, and portraiture to an increasingly abstract style and then to an imaginary approach that utilized the traditional themes. This latest group of paintings and drawings, all done recently, reflects a return to my roots both in terms of approach and aesthetic. I prefer acrylic paint and condensed charcoal and chalk drawings. And I depict scenes I remember from my youth in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. The two are combined in this latest series of work: the river, the El, industrial sites, and street corners. |
