From Francis Kelly

Rialto“In May this year I reached the age of 80. I reflected on my 59 years as an artist, but the new images are not a finality, but a new beginning. During the past decade, I have had several strokes, but I have not let them impede my painting. For many decades, Venice has been an inspiration to me. I evolved a different form of expression than the usual representation of that unique city. I began to observe water movements and reflections. Many of the new paintings on the site are a distillation of the varied patterns and abstract forms by the swirl of agitated waters.”

We have just published some of Kelly’s latest works (below) so please let us know what you think? Plus we have added this news page to keep you updated with the studio and also cover of some of Kelly’s history and techniques. There may even be a video or two, so be sure to stay posted!

Hi there. It is always an inspiration to look at the quality and the sheer quantity of your work,Francis.
I am thinking back(time travelling)to the happy days when I was a photographer living in London and your family was a valuable part of my life
I did’nt quite get to 80, I’m only 77, but all that I can say is” good luck and many more years!”

I am one of Gail’s former students (Bushy Park - Class of ‘57) Being a painter was one of my unfulfilled ambitions (though I’ve done some personal work). Just love your website and thoroughly enjoy viewing your new additions. My husband and I particularly love “Beachy Head”. Congrats at arriving at the venerable age of 80 and still doing such beautiful work! May you continue for years to come…Love and Blessings to both you and Gail and all your wonderful family.

    Bobby Robert -

I am fascinated by your recent paintings and must have one for the more contemporary me. Granddaughter
Princess Paige has changed a lot of how I see things
these days. The age numbers get higher but our appreciation of beauty gets keener and keener.

Any chance of your providing me with a brochure and
prices? If there is a family discount, perhaps I’ll
get a painting (or a print) for Steve and Nicole.

Your Christmas card is almost on its way.

    Love, Maggie

joy just gets more and more

Love your work Bob. Will always remember the happy days watching you paint in your garage loft in Los Angeles in the 1950s. Great to see your changing styles over the years. We’re glad to have some of your early Rembrandt prints and oil paintings still hanging in our home. They’ve given us a lifetime of pleasure.

    Bob,
Thanks for sharing your passion and awesome work with us. This New Vision makes my head spin in all the right directions. As a songwriter, I can only dream of painting like you, The Master. I just shared your site address with my friends. Thanks and a very Happy Birthday to you, my inspiring friend.
